Liam's eyes fluttered open as daylight filtered under the brim of his black top hat, a half-dazed look as he blinked owlishly. His hat was pulled forward over his eyes, but somehow it had slipped and let the light in. He yawned and stretched, a natural movement for anyone who'd just awoken from an afternoon nap. Muscles and what was left of his mind awakening, he sat up. His hat fell from his head, tumbling down the side of his mushroom perch to the vivid green grass below. His eyes followed it as it fell, a sigh escaping his lips as he slid down off of the mushrom to land gracefully on his feet. He stooped to scoop up his hat, replacing it atop his pale strawberry blonde hair. He stretched again, waving away a bread-and-butterfly as it fluttered past, only inches from his nose. A soft smile spread across his face as he watched it fly away. It wasn't that he didn't like the little creatures, he just didn't like them so close to his face.
Retrieving his cane, he spun on his heel and began to walk toward the hollow where the Caterpillar resided. He walked with the cane, though he didn't need it at all. Striding to the garden of singing flowers, he bowed as he entered their presence but didn't speak a word to them. They smiled and began to hum, singing a favorite of theirs. Absentmindedly he hummed along as he continued on his way, finally reaching his friend's hollow. "Hello my dear friend. The day finds you well?" He had a faintly British accent, accompanied by a softer voice. He never spoke very loudly, and his voice wasn't exceptionally deep, but it was enough so to be quite masculine. His tone was always absent, as though he were always preoccupied. He settled himself onto a nearby mushroom with a chuckle as the Caterpillar continued to make creations from his smoke. Liam knew his friend wouldn't answer right now, and just leaned back to stare up at the swirling clouds of smoke. Before he even realized it, his pipe was in his mouth and he was lighting it, puffing on it gently as he joined his friend in a blissful stupor.
